CHAPTER 4  - RIN THE DEMON SLAYER
Ryo goes to Zeref with unfortunate news, He tells his master that his plan to trick Heroshya had failed twice already and that he is unsure what course of action to take next. Zeref is very displeased with this information. Ryo informs, "Master, I was able to retrieve one small piece of information that may be useful.  It seems that Lord Sesshomaru is in love with a human girl named Rin; Heroshya is most disturbed by this."  Zeref responds, "Ah yes, the human girl, this is not my first time hearing of her.  She may actually be someone I can use to my benefit. I want you and the others of the gargoyle tribe to find this girl and bring her to me."  Ryo responds, "Yes Master, I will find her and bring her to you immediately."      Zeref notices the nasty bloody scratches on Ryo's back and advises, "See to that wound first Ryo, I don't want you falling ill on me now."  Ryo kneels to his master and heads off. 

Meanwhile some weeks have passed, Rin and Kohaku have been going on many demon slaying missions.  Some of the missions they go on are requests from villagers who are having troubles with demons in which Kohaku and Rin are paid a decent wage for their services. Rin is always generous to the penniless villagers by having them pay in a few vegetables from their crops, medicinal herbs, bundles of rice or just simply bake a nice pie for her and Kohaku if they can not afford to pay in coins. She tells Kohaku and the villagers that she just wants people to be safe and feel secure in their own village. Rin and Kohaku will sometimes ward off bandits and robbers as well, this gives Rin the chance to avenge the death of her father, mother and brothers who were all killed by bandits when she was a young girl.  Rin has been very careful, cautious and observant when demon slaying.  She is excellent at using her sling shot and even more skillful when using her other weapon ' The Naginta.'    During these times of demon slaying Rin is spending time with Sesshomaru when he visits her on the usual day and time that he always has for 7 years but she is careful not to reveal to him that she is demon slaying with Kohaku.  Rin will never lie to Sesshomaru but she decides that she will not tell him about her new job because it will only worry him. One day while sitting outside at the beautiful lake near lady Kaede's hut, Sesshomaru and Rin are sitting close to each other talking. She has on her beautiful orange Kimono with a green sash, she lifts her arm causing the sleeve of it to move up revealing a slight wound. Sesshomaru notices the small abrasion on her forearm and he asks her, "where did you get this wound on your arm?"   Rin responds quickly, "Oh, it's just a scratch."  Sesshomaru then says, " That does not answer my question."   Rin feeling nervous and not sure how to answer him hesitates, "Well, I...."  Sesshomaru interrupts her response, "Nevermind, If you are fighting demons with Kohaku...spare me the details."   Rin stands up, defending her actions and raising her voice at him for the first time ever, "I can't believe that you still don't want to support me on this! Well, I have been demon slaying for some weeks now and I am still alive with only a minor scratch on my arm."   A look of dissappointment covers her face as she continues, "I thought you would be proud of my accomplishment."  Sesshomaru explains as he remains sitting and looking up at her, "I fear it would only be a matter of time before you are severly wounded, A human and especially a woman, is no match to a powerful demon, that is simply the way things are Rin."  Rin wants to prove him wrong as she retrieves her Naginta weapon out of her napsack that she keeps with her often. She extends the stick to fighting length and positions herself into fighting stance as she tells Sesshomaru, "Draw your sword, defend yourself."   Sesshomaru shows no emotion but Inside he is finding this cute and amusing deciding to endulge her. He stands and removes his Tensaiga from his sash, knowing that the sword does not cut or kill but only heals. He decides he would like to see how well her fighting skills are thinking perhaps that will ease his apprehension of her demon battles in the human villages. He tells her " Very well, we will duel however I insist you come at me with all you've got. Do not hold back. I need to access for myself your skill level...do not concern yourself with harming me."  She comes at Sesshomaru swiping her weapon at him and he simply jumps back several times avoiding her strikes with ease. Her weapon clashes with his sword as she uses much strength to avoid his strike and stops it from coming down on her. She manuevers in a backward jump and swings at him swiftly, he attempts to strike at her with his sword but she blocks it as his swords blade lands in the slit of the Naginta. She twirls her weapon with his sword stuck in the slit and causes the Tensaiga to go flying out of Sesshomaru's hand but he is quick catching his sword with the other hand as he continues  bringing his sword down on her but she strikes his blade hard with her weapon.  Sesshomaru thinks to himself as he is fighting her that she does seem to be very skilled and fast with a good technique. He also can't help but notice how sultry she looks when she is wielding her weapon, the way strands of her dark silky hair gently glide past her face as the wind passes through it. The way her shapely body moves flawlessly with every maneuver. As she fights in her kimono, he notices each time she jumps or swings her sword with force that her long, sleek legs which are usually hidden by her clothing are revealed in spurts. Rin's weapon slashes awfully close to his midsection as he lost focus for a moment while noticing these things. He realizes he actually has to pay attention to Rin's strikes as she continues to attack at him with flawless movements and impressive speed.  Still he finds himself thinking yet again, taking notice of the little bit of sweat that is beginning to glisten on the bottom of Rin's neck and collar bone, she breaths heavy from fatigue and makes small noises in her sweet voice with each attack when she either throws or blocks and he finds this tantalizing. Again Rin' s weapon comes down; He is a bit slow as he blocks her attack at the last minute .  Rin notices his hesitation of blocking or avoiding her attacks and comments, "Either you're not paying attention or I'm getting really good at this.  What's wrong?"  He tells her , "Enough....Sango has taught you well."  He places his sword back in his sash and tells Rin, "I must go, I'll return soon Rin."  He begins to take leave but Rin can tell something is wrong, his demeanor is distant even more than usual, she asks him, "No, something is wrong.  Was it something I did during our duel?"  Sesshomaru does not respond and continues walking but she finds herself getting upset at his dismissing attitude.  She runs and stands in front of him causing him to stop walking as she continues, "Would you please talk to me, I need to know!!"  He closes his eyes and says, "Rin you did nothing wrong."  she then responds, "Then what is troubling you?"  Suddenly he grabs hold of her arms and places her against a nearby tree as he kisses her deeply and passionately. This catches Rin off guard and she gasps for air causing Sesshomaru to release her. She catches her breath for a moment as he places his forehead against hers and he tells her, "I am not a human man Rin... I am but a beast, an animal... you should remember that."  He releases his grip on her arms and walks off again. Rin stands stunned and a bit confused by his actions.  Unbeknownst to Sesshomaru and Rin, Kohaku has witnessed that final moment whilst keeping himself hidden from sight. He is shocked to see Sesshomaru act in such a way with Rin as it had never occurred to Kohaku that Sesshomaru has also noticed the beautiful woman she has grown into, also falling victim to her captivating brown eyes, her fragrant flowing hair and her smile that is powerful enough to warm the heart of the coldest demon.  Kohaku begins to walk back home. He feels his blood rise and boil with anger as he thinks to himself:  Lord Sesshomaru is a demon, he has no right attempting to court a human girl. Rin should live a normal life with people of her own kind and with me as her devoted husband. It's time he move on. I will speak with him about this. I'm sure he will do what's right and best for Rin.

One week later, Rin and Kohaku hold hands on a warm night while sitting on a hilltop looking out at the starry night sky. They talk about their latest demon slay job as they joke about the humorous situation that occurred during it earlier that day.  Rin laughs, "Kohaku, the way you flipped in the air when that demon was approaching you was a sight to see."  Kohaku also laughs, "I can only imagine how it must have looked."   She tells him, "It looked as if you had flying powers."  She laughs even harder remembering the scene, "I had to stop fighting for a moment just so I could watch in amazement."   Kohaku explains, "Well, you'd be surprised how a moment of fear can affect you." Rin puts her arm around his neck and comforts him, "Aw, that wasn't fear, It was your survival instinct taking over....That's all."    Rin and Kohaku gaze at each other for a moment when Kohaku gently kisses her on the forehead.  She raises her head and closes her eyes as their lips join and they kiss.  After a moment Kohaku stops kissing Rin and looks as her eyes are still closed, She smiles slightly from the enjoyment and the feel of his soft lips against hers and then relaxes her head on his shoulder. They remain just looking out at the beautiful bright stars when Rin comments, "It's so beautiful out here and it's such a lovely night."  Kohaku agrees, "I could stay out here like this with you til morning but I'd better get you back home, Lady Kaede will worry."  Rin begins to stand, "Yes, we should start back...besides, Lord Sesshomaru is visiting with me tomorrow morning, I don't want to oversleep and keep him waiting."  Kohaku is glad to hear it as he says, "Is he??  Tomorrow morning?  Perfect."   Rin is confused and crinkles her brow as she asks, "Since when do you care about Lord Sesshomaru's visits?"  Kohaku replies, "Oh it's nothing, Rin."  He thinks to himself: Great, this will be my chance to talk things over with him before he even sees Rin tomorrow.

Early the next morning, Kohaku is quick to catch Sesshomaru before he meets with Rin. He can see him approaching as they eventually come face to face. Kohaku says calmly, "Lord Sesshoamru, Please may I have a word with you?"   Sesshomaru stops walking but says nothing as Kohaku continues, "I want to speak with you regarding Rin. I know you've been constant in her life since she was 8 years old but now...well, I think you're smothering her with your constant visits and ordering her around as if you own her. I really think she needs a bit of space. She is a human after all and she should spend more of her time with me, my family, lady Kaede and the other humans of the village."   Sesshomaru is not sure where this is coming from and inquires, " Has Rin asked you to speak with me about this?"  Kohaku replies, "No. She's still young and naive, she doesn't see things the way I do, these are my own observations."  Sesshomaru continues walking as he says, "If these are not Rin's feelings, then there is nothing more we need to discuss."    Kohaku yells, "Wait!!  I'm not done speaking with you!"   Sesshomaru still walks and responds without turning around to face Kohaku, "It does not matter. Nothing you have to say is worth listening to."   Kohaku shouts, "Is that so? Well I don't want you around Rin so much. You've done well to protect her but now she is a woman, It's time you move on and let her live her own life."   Sesshomaru is not interested or concerned with anything more that Kohaku has to say as he walks slowly on to meet with Rin as normal.  Kohaku walks up swiftly behind him and grabs his arm to turn him frontwards but Sesshomaru is quick to turn on his own while reaching out and grabbing Kohaku by the throat almost lifting him off the ground as he did once when Kohaku was a young boy but Kohaku uses his own strength to knock Sesshomaru's arm and jump back slightly, freeing himself as he informs,    "That won't work, I'm not a child anymore."   Sesshomaru replies, "You may not be a child anymore but you are still pathetic and useless. You will always be that way."     Kohaku groans as he responds in anger, " I'm useless???  Who taught Rin to protect herself? Who convinced her to pursue her dream to demon slay when you kept telling her she wasn't good enough?"  Sesshomaru again replies, "I won't allow you to waste anymore of my time. Be grateful that I have decided not to kill you for approaching me with such foolishness."  He turns yet again to leave but Kohaku's anger continues to rise as he hates the way Sesshomaru is cold and dismissive towards him.  Kohaku says under his breath, "That's It!" as he  pulls out his Kusarigama weapon and flings it at Sesshomaru who quickly turns and at the same time pulls out his Buksiaga using it to knock the Kusarigama out of his path.  Kohaku yanks at the chain of the Kusarigama bringing the weapon back to his hands.  Sesshomaru and Kohaku are both in fighting mode as Kohaku glares angrily at him.

Meanwhile Rin is sitting on the grass near the lake, waiting for Lord Sesshomaru and becoming impatient.  She thinks to herself: Lord Sesshomaru is late. Where could he be?  She holds a flower in her hand and smells it's lovely aroma as she continues to think about Sesshomaru and the last time she saw him:  His kiss was so passionate, it caught me off guard and yet it was sort of a thrill for me.   Her heart skips a beat just thinking about it ; she smiles to herself as she replays the moment but her smile fades when she thinks about how she also kissed Kohaku just last night. Suddenly Rin remembers how Kohaku seemed to show interest in the fact that Lord Sesshomaru was coming to visit when he never cared before and his attitude was strange when she asked him about it. She thinks to herself: I'd better look for Lord Sesshomaru, I've got a bad feeling.  She runs off taking the path that Sesshomaru usually walks in hopes she will see him. Rin is not sure why but her intuition tells her she should hurry. 

Meanwhile Kohaku grips his weapon tightly as Sesshomaru Stands with sword in hand and states, "Obviously, you do not value your life, so I will take possession of it."  Sesshomaru charges and slashes his sword several times at Kohaku who jumps out of the way avoiding each attack as he skillfully twirls the chain and slashes the hook of his Karisagma weapon. Sesshomaru easily blocks all the attacks that come his way and he eventually knocks the weapon out of Kohaku's hand causing it to go flying. Kohaku (now with no weapon) attempts to use a fighting technique that allows him to jump and kick while in the air but Sesshomaru only smirks slightly at this attempt and swipes his claws causing a deep, bloody slash on Kohaku's leg.  The kick was interrupted and Kohaku falls to the ground and moans low under his breath from the pain but is quick to get back up and continue the fight. Sesshomaru explains, "This is not one of your demon slayer jobs, you will have to do much better than that." As Kohaku is standing there he can feel the extreme pain  and throbbing from his wounded leg but he doesn't show any distress as he continues to fight also remembering that he does also have a small dagger that he rarely uses, he pulls it out and slashes it wildly at the same time charging but Sesshomaru once again shows no distress as he dodges the attacks with simplicity.  The small dagger does not compare to the Bakusaiga as the powerful sword's blade pierces Kohaku's shoulder. He yells from the pain of that attack and staggers a bit, at the same time realizing that he is losing this fight but he refuses to  let his opponent see him fall.  Sesshomaru walks closer replying, "Have pride in knowing you were skillful enough to withstand a lengthy battle with me before you perished."  He raises his sword, intent on delivering the final blow when the sound of Rin's voice stops him, "Lord Sesshomaru, Don't Please!!!" Sesshomaru does not turn to face her but his eyes shift in the direction of her voice. She runs to Sesshomaru as she continues to plead, "Please don't kill him!!"  He flicks his sword to remove the blood and replaces it into it's sheath while Kohaku remains standing but wobbly and holding his wounded shoulder. Sesshomaru instructs Rin, "If you want him to live, Be sure he learns his place and picks his battles carefully. He will not survive if he encounters me a second time."  He then turns to leave, allowing Rin time to help Kohaku as he disappears transforming into a ball of white light that fades in the distance.  She goes to her wounded friend and begins to speak, "Kohaku...." but he falls to his knees and then to the ground, passing out from the pain; no longer able to hold his pretense.  When he awakes, he is lying on a futon at Lady Sango's hut bandaged around the leg and the shoulder. Rin, Sango and Miroku are all there by his side, Miroku replies, "Oh good, your awake."  Kohaku tries to move but the pain is excruciating causing Miroku to warn, "Don't try to move too much right now. I've got to go and see about a medicinal herb to help with some of the pain. Just relax."  Miroku kisses Sango as he says, "I'll return as quickly as I can."   he leaves the hut and Sango inquires, "What happened between you and Sesshomaru?  Why would he fight you?"  Kohaku admits, "he didn't, I fought him."  Sango replies in shock, "WHAT... That's insane Kohaku !"   Rin agrees, "What were you thinking Kohaku ?!  You know better than anyone that Lord Sesshomaru is much more powerful than the demons we slay in the human villages. He could have killed you within mere seconds."  Sango asks him, "Why would you provoke him?"  Kohaku responds sharply, "Forget it, I don't want to talk about it."  Sango turns to Rin, "Thank you for saving my brother's life Rin."   She replies, "Please don't thank me for that. I'm just so relieved that I was able to stop Lord Sesshomaru in time. A moment more would have been too late. Please Kohaku, don't ever do anything like that again."  Kohaku lies there with his arms folded and a bit of anger on his face from losing the fight and seeing that Rin knows he is no match for Lord Sesshomaru.  Rin can sense his pride is damaged as she tries to comfort him, placing her hand on his cheek she says, "What ever the reason for the fight, It was still very brave of you."   He thinks to himself :  I don't know if it was brave, I only know that I love you and I would die for you Rin.

Meanwhile, Ryo is still searching for information. He must find a way to locate Rin but is not sure of her whereabouts. Ryo knows that she must be in the Western region because that is the land where Lord Sesshomaru rules, so the girl must be close to that area. He decides that he will disguise himself as a human and roam the human villages in the West and casually ask about the girl to find out what village she resides in.  After two weeks of doing this, Ryo finds out that Rin is a demon slayer and she often travels to many different villages. Ryo thinks to himself: Hmmm, this is going to be a bit of a challenge, not only does she roam from town to town causing me more difficulty in locating her but also she is a demon slayer and she will more than likely give me a fight or struggle when I get to her.  I was so hoping this would be an easy task.
He prepares himself for what must be done, he does not dare return to his lord and master without the girl as ordered.  While Ryo is in one of the human villages to get more details about Rin, a huge commotion breaks out and a dark flying demon swoops down into the village as people run and scream.  Ryo being in human disguise is not in any fear but watches as this situation unfolds.  The flying demon bursts into one of the huts as the sound of crashing and banging erupts throughout the village; the demon comes flying out with a newborn human infant cuddled in its arms as it flies higher into the sky escaping with the child.  The human infant's mother comes running out screaming, "My baby!! The demon stole my baby!!!"  She tries to run to save the child but soon the demon is out of sight as the father of the infant comes out to comfort his wife, "There is nothing we can do...Our child is gone from us."  he looks up in the sky with lost hope of ever seeing their child again.  The mother asks,
" What will become of our child, what will that monster do?"  The mother and father of the infant hold each other as Ryo joins the crowd that has gathered nearby talking about the situation. He over hears someone saying, "This is the third baby that was snatched by that demon this month. This has to stop!!"  Another villager replies, "The demon will be back, that we know for sure."   A woman expecting a newborn comments, "I am afraid to give birth to my baby for fear of this awful demon."  A male villager speaks out to her and the others, "We will not have to fear this demon much longer, I have sought the help of two young, highly skilled demon slayers....Rin and Kohaku. They have assured me that they will be able to handle this situation for us."   Ryo is very excited and he smirks as he thinks: Rin...the girl, she will be here in this village very soon.  Perfect,  Then I will remain here for a few more days. 


It has been two weeks since Rin and Sesshomaru spent time together last and Rin has thought over and over again in her head about the odd way Lord Sesshomaru behaved last time she saw him but she doesn't give it another moments thought when she sees him approaching her in the field by the lake. She is so happy to see him everytime he visits as she shouts out, "Lord Sesshomaru!!  Good afternoon My Lord!"  Sesshomaru responds warm and soft to Rin as always, "Good afternoon Rin. Are you well today?"  She tells him," I am, very well."  They sit on the grass looking out at the beautiful lake as they talk, Sesshomaru can not resist the urge to caress Rin's soft lovely face.  She smiles and closes her eyes enjoying the feel of his touch as she says, "Your hands can caress me so gently and yet those same hands are capable of ripping me apart." Sesshomaru's eye brows lower as he asks her, "Rin, Do you really think I would do that to you?"   She replies, "No Milord."  Sesshomaru still curious of her comment asks, "What causes you to speak such foolishness?" Rin simply replies, " You said  that you are not a man but an animal." Sesshomaru smiles inside realizing that Rin misunderstood his meaning behind that statement, he adores how she is so innocent and pure. He assures her, "Rin, disregard all I said before and know only this... I would never and could never raise a hand to harm you in any way."  They kiss each other softly.     Sesshomaru remains with Rin a while longer, she does not want him to leave her. The sun is slowly beginning to set as they remain on the grass she asks him about his son, Heroshya. Sesshomaru informs Rin that Heroshya is well on his way to becoming a great demon and informs her of his plans for Heroshya.  Rin moves in close, smiles slyly and asks Sesshomaru flirtingly, "And what are your plans for me?"  Sesshomaru admires her beautiful smile and chuckles softly as he responds, "I have many plans for you as well." He kisses her  as she slowly lies back on the grass and he over top of her, as they continue kissing she feels an overwhelming sense of guilt that she has been keeping secrets from Sesshomaru. First she had began with keeping her demon slayings quiet from Sesshomaru in fear of his disapproval and second she has been spending much time with Kohaku and they have become very affectionate with each other also, She has kissed Kohaku a few times as well. Rin has feelings for Kohaku and cherishes the times they spend together, demon slaying together is bringing them even closer than they originally were but she is in love with Sesshomaru and hopes to marry him someday. Rin stops kissing Sesshomaru and looks at him with shame in her eyes, She tells him, "You've been so good to me all these years, I feel like I don't deserve you. Why are you wasting your time on me, a human?  There are so many beautiful and powerful demon women that would love to be with you."  Sesshomaru seems bewildered by her sudden burst of emotion and says, "Rin, I have lived a long time, I have never met a woman with a soul as beautiful as yours nor with a face as equally beautiful. " Rin blushes and smiles softly and at that moment Sesshomaru recalls to her, " That smile...It is the very thing that captured my heart from the start. "   Rin is the only person that Sesshomaru will express some of his true feelings to, Normally he is so prideful and silent about his emotions but she is the one and only person he will open up to.  Rin remembers the first time he ever opened up his feelings to her and no one else.  When she was 8 years old traveling with Lord Sesshomaru right after he had passed on his Meadiou technique to Inuyasha, The Tenseiga had fallen to the ground and Totosai advised him to take the sword, even though it does not cut and has no meadiou powers anymore it still has healing powers. Sesshomaru rejected the idea of carrying Tenseiga with him to go around healing people and decided to leave the sword but Rin got the sword from Totosai and promised to give it to Lord Sesshomaru when he was in a better mood.  For many days Sesshomaru ignored the sword that Rin was carrying for him then one night Jaken and Kohaku were out gathering fire wood while Sesshomaru was sitting on a rock near the water looking out.  Rin chose that moment to convince Lord Sesshomaru to wear his sword again:  

Rin:  "Lord Sesshomaru, may I ask a favor of you?"
Sesshomaru:  "What is it?"
Rin:  "Will you carry  your Tensaiga again?"
Sesshomaru does not respond and continues to look out at the water.
Rin:  "Please Lord Sesshomaru, I never ask favors of you...It would mean so much to me."
Sesshomaru:  "I have no use for it Rin."
Rin:  " It can cut down demons that are not of this world remember?  That must be useful and even if it isn't, this sword is your father's that he gave to you...Lord Sesshomaru, isn't that reason enough to at least carry it?"
Sesshomaru:  "Father?!  I will carry nothing that belongs to him! He favors that half breed Inuyasha over me."
Rin:  "That's not true!!!  Lord Sesshomaru, don't you think it's strange that after you gave your sword's power to Inuyasha and even after you had broken the blade, the Tensaiga regained it's original form again? I'm sure your father must still want you to have it, he wouldn't want you to just abandon it.  If you won't carry it, then I will never let go of it until you do."  
Rin walks away from Sesshomaru and meets up with Kohaku and Jaken  to help set up the fire wood so that they would sleep warm that night. She looks over at Sesshomaru and he is still on the rock looking out at the water. They all sleep that night, Rin slept with the Tensaiga at her side as she did every night since she had possession of it.  The next morning when Rin woke up, Sesshomaru was gone and so was the Tensaiga....Afraid that he may have decided to destroy it she looks around frantically.  She woke Jaken, "Master Jaken, Where is the Tensaiga? It was right here next to me when I fell asleep."  Jaken replies sleepily, "I don't know Rin, who cares....Master doesn't want that useless sword anyway."  Jaken rolls back over and goes back to sleep. Just then Rin looks up and Sesshomaru is walking toward them, he had the Tensaiga in its sheath and resting in his sash where he normally kept it.  Sesshomaru stands in front of Rin as she smiles proudly at him for taking her advice. Sesshomaru tells Rin, "Wake Jaken and Kohaku, We are leaving."  Rin answered, "Yes, Milord."

Rin is so happy that Sesshomaru has grown close enough to her to express some of his feelings to her even though at times his pride will still cause him to hold back. Rin and Sesshomaru spent most of the afternoon and evening together before they parted ways. Rin has a demon slay job with Kohaku the next day and decides to take a warm bath and sleep early, getting plenty of rest before a serious job such as that is important to her.  She heats up water, bathes and puts on a night kimono robe then suddenly she hears Kohaku's voice, "Rin...Rin, Are you there?"   Rin looks out her window of her room, "Kohaku??"  Kohaku is standing outside her window and comes up close to see her, trying not to alert lady Kaede, he speaks quietly..."Rin,I know you like to get plenty of rest the night before a demon slaying but I had to see you."  Rin asks, "What is it Kohaku?"   Kohaku responds, "come outside."  Rin slips out of the window, it is low enough to the ground and she stands in front of Kohaku, He tries to kiss her but Rin feeling guilt of betraying Sesshomaru resist Kohaku's kiss this time.  He seems confused by this and asks, "Rin, what's wrong?"  Rin doesn't want to tell Kohaku about her being in love with Lord Sesshomaru because she doesn't want to hurt him so she just replies, "It's not you, I'm just not feeling well tonight Kohaku."   Kohaku tells Rin, " I understand...I'll let you rest."  He touches her cheek and gives her one small kiss on the lips and tells her, "I'll be here early tomorrow to pick you up."  Rin Replies, "Okay, good night Kohaku."  Kohaku heads back home himself and Rin goes back in through the front entrance of the hut, thinking:  I don't know what to do about this situation with Kohaku, he deserves to know the truth about me and Lord Sesshomaru.
The next day Rin is preparing to set out on a demon slaying job with Kohaku for a village that is being tormented by a huge demon that has been kidnapping their new born babies.  Three infants have been kidnapped in the past month and many of the mothers and fathers in the village are frightened. Rin is determined to bring this monster down and she is trying to determine which one of her weapons would be best for this job. She finally decides she will carry both, the  Naginta on her back and the sling shot she will keep rested in her sash.  Rin dons her demon slayer outfit and heads out.  As she is beginning to walk out the door, Lady Kaede stops her, "Child, please be careful; come back to me safe.  I still don't like this whole demon slayer business. "  Rin walks over and gives Lady Kaede a kiss on the cheek and assures her, "Don't worry, I'll be home in time for dinner...I'll be looking forward to your wild berry pie Granny Kaede."   Lady Kaede smiles, "I'll be waiting for you Rin."    Rin heads out the door armed with her weapons while Kohaku approaches her. They head out together for another day of battling demons.


During their battle with the baby snatcher demon, Ryo and a few of the other Gargoyle demons are watching the entire battle from a far safe distance. Kohaku is seriously wounded by the demon and Rin shouts, "Kohaku!!!  Stay back, I'll bring this one down myself!!"  Kohaku shouts back, "Rin be careful, this demon is as fast as lighting!!"   At that very moment, Ryo listening and watching this entire battle tells the other gargoyle demons that are with him, "Ha, that's her...That's the human girl Rin.  I've found her, now I just need to bring her back to Master Zeref.  Seems as though my plan worked after all. "   Ryo had done his research, He knew from listening to the seashell that the girl connected to Sesshomaru name was Rin. On a hunch and since she was human, Ryo spoke with many human villagers asking who Rin was and how he can find her. After much effort a couple of villagers informed Ryo that Rin is a demon slayer and she is usually seen with a male companion when she goes out on her fights with demons.  Ryo watches Rin's incredible fighting movements and swiftness, he decides it may be best to approach her when she is off her guard.  After a lengthy battle Rin does indeed bring down the baby snatcher demon and once she has accomplished her goal, she runs to Kohaku to see how badly he is hurt. Rin with her back turned and the Naginta on the ground stained with the demons blood, she is not paying attention to what is going on behind her, she believes she has taken care of the only threatening demon around. A gargoyle demon swoops down from the sky and grabs Rin taking hold of her with both his arms around her waist and takes her up in the sky with him. Kohaku shouts, "No Rin!!!"  Rin struggles and Ryo flies up beside her and speaks to her, "Don't struggle or he'll drop you, My master just wants to talk to you that's all."   Rin replies, "I don't care who your master is, Let me go or I'll make you pay for trying to kidnap me."  Before Ryo can respond Rin uses her elbow to jab the demon holding her in his chest, when that happens the Gargoyle loosens his grip from her due to a bit of pain, Rin takes that opportunity uses a maneuver  that she had learned and mastered from Sango, an air back flip that causes her to kick with both legs in the demons chin with great force, causing him to moan in pain and let her go, but when she does this she has no choice but to fall back to the earth however she is able to quickly grab on to a hanging vine from a tall tree but she still has a long fall if she was to let go.  She looks down at the long drop below and thinks: Oh no, I can't let go of this vine, how am I going to get myself out of this mess?   She looks up again and she sees another one of the Gargoyle demons coming back for her, Not the one that had a hold of her but a different Gargoyle demon. When he reaches Rin she instantly sees a smokey gray mist coming from the demons wrist and she feels an overwhelming desire to sleep, she can no longer keep her eyes open nor can she hold on to the vine.  When Rin wakes she finds herself in a room, she has been lying on a small futon on the floor and the only exit is locked from the outside. Rin struggles to get out and yells, "Let me go!!!"  The door opens and Zeref walks in the room, Rin is somewhat in awe by his look, he is huge and intimidating but she does not show her fear.  She demands..."let me out of here, you can't keep me here!"  Zeref glares at her for a moment; Rin continues with frustration in her voice, "What do you want with me??!!"  Zeref walks up to Rin slowly and uses his clawed index finger to lift Rin's chin and get a good look at her face. Rin gives out a soft shriek of slight pain from the point of his claw piercing under her chin which Zeref enjoys to see. He finally speaks, "Well, aren't you a beauty. I see why Sesshomaru has been keeping you a secret."  Rin thinks to herself:  Lord Sesshomaru? Oh No....what does this mad man have planned?  Rin thinks fast and replies, "I don't know anyone by that name, you've got the wrong person." Zeref laughs,  "haha, I don't think so."  he continues, " I had planned to use you as a way to help Sesshomaru make up his mind about giving up his empire to me and join mine. I planned to make him choose between keeping you or keeping his precious empire, hmmm but after seeing you, I think you will do well as my mistress. I have many human mistresses, they've all become accustom to serving me after awhile and so will you."       Rin can hardly believe what she is hearing, she responds in a very calm voice, "You will have to kill me because I will never submit to that."   Zeref responds, "You're a feisty one, I like that."  Zeref yells out to two of his human female mistresses and informs them, "I want her out of those battle clothes and into appropriate attire.  Her hair as well, have this done in one hour"  Zeref turns to walk out of the room but before he leaves he warns Rin, "I will return soon and when I do, don't even think about trying one of your demon slaying moves on me...It will only get you killed. " 
Meanwhile, Kohaku gathered himself together but he is badly wounded. He makes it to Sango's house and informs her that Rin has been kidnapped. Kohaku tells Sango and The Monk to help him with his wound as quickly as possible so that he can help Rin. Sango asks,"But Kohaku, you don't know who took Rin or why.... do you?"  Kohaku replies, "No, I only saw an evil looking demon with huge wings." Sango replies, "We've got to tell Sesshomaru, he may know who is behind this."  Kohaku notes  that it could be a demon getting revenge on Rin for one of the slayings she did.  Sango thinks: Oh no, this is horrible...I will  go out with Kohaku to find Rin and bring her back.  Sango tells the Monk to help Kohaku with his wounds, She is going to get her weapon and gear to help find Rin.  Mouraku feeling uneasy about all this responds, "Sango, please maybe we should just get Inuyasha to help."  Sango agrees, Now that she has three children to look after and care for, she doesn't think it's wise to take the risk alone or with just Kohaku and herself.  She quickly seeks out Inuyasha's help. 
Zeref is sitting on his huge throne chair and orders one of his demon servants to inform Sesshomaru that he has Rin and that they are going to come to an agreement now. The demon servant heads out in search of Sesshomaru.  Meanwhile the female human servants  are helping Rin to change into suitable attire and fixing her hair to  Zeref's liking but Rin is being resistant, "No, I don't want to wear that dress...why do you serve him? you don't have to be his slave."   One of the servants responds, "We don't have a choice, we will be killed if we don't and you will be too...please do as he orders."   Rin is shocked by their weakness and instant submission, however to keep the servant girls from being punished....Rin allows them to do what they need to with her clothing and hair. Once the servant girls are finished with Rin, they leave her in the room.  After some time, Zeref enters the room again to speak with Rin. She looks very glamorous with her hair up and wearing a red outfit that is to Lord Zeref's taste. He walks up to Rin and says, "A beautiful Rose but you are full of thorns."  He instantly slaps a set of shackles around her wrists then another shackle with a long chain attached to it around her neck. Rin is most unhappy being shackled and chained like that so she struggles with  Zeref as he walks her out of the room pulling her by the chain to where he sits at his throne,he locks the chain near his chair because he wants Sesshomaru to see her like that. Zeref tells Rin, "Relax my sweet,  when I feel  that I can trust you, I will let you roam about  without the chains and shackles."  Rin feels extreme anger at him for thinking he can just keep her as his personal slave just like that. She can't believe that he thinks she will just give into him.  Suddenly an explosion, burst of rocks and dirt...when the smoke clears, Sesshomaru is there.  Rin thinks to herself: Lord Sesshomaru, You're here.  Zeref smiles, unintimidated by his entrance, "Sesshomaru I'm glad you could make it. I propose we have a little talk and come to an agreement about our empires...what do you think?  Oh but first and foremost...."   He strokes Rin's hair and she yanks her head away as he continues,  "I'll be keeping the girl for myself, I hope you don't mind."  He laughs loudly as Sesshomaru looks and is infuriated when he  sees Rin chained and shackled at her wrist and neck. He yells to Zeref, " There is no need to talk, nothing to discuss...you won't be getting Rin or my empire and there is no way I'm letting you live after this."  Zeref  is not afraid of Sesshomaru and replies, "So you don't want to discuss this? As you wish..."  Zeref stands up and draws his sword, Sesshomaru has his sword  out and ready for battle and they begin their fight. The fight between the two powerful demons is very intense and it causes them to slowly drift away from Zeref's empire. Eventually Inuyasha, Sango and Kohaku show up to help Rin but they find themselves surrounded by many of Lord Zeref's demon servants and having to fight their way through.  Rin is being gaurded by one of Zeref's demon servants and is chained and shackled to the wall near Zeref's throne but she can see that Inuyasha and the others are all there to save her. During the fight with one of the demons, Inuyasha's sword is thrown from his hand and is flung far and falls near Rin, When the sword falls it turns into a dull blade when out of Inuyasha's hand.  Rin notices that it is Inuyasha's sword and tries to reach it even though she is chained up , with just a little effort she is able to reach it and keep it in her possession. One of the demons gaurding her sees her with the sword and says, "Girl, what are you doing with that sword? Where did you get it?"   Rin responds, "Do you really not know?  This sword is the Tetsiagia, It belongs to Sesshomaru's younger brother who must have come here to help him fight. I plan to give this sword to My Lord Zeref to get in his good graces. Perhaps he will treat me well as his mistress if I please him."   The demon is intrigued by this information wants to know more, "Is this the Infamous Tetsiagia I have heard so much about?"   Rin answers, "Yes, its power can make even the weakest of demons prestigious...Lord Zeref will be most happy with me."  The demon wanting to have the sword for himself tells Rin, "Girl, Give me that sword."   Rin replies, "No, I won't let you have it and if you try to take it, I will tell Lord Zeref ... but if you remove these shackles and chains I will hand over the Tetsiagia to you, we can both escape from here and Lord Zeref will never know that you were the one that retrieved the Tetsiagia. Does that work for you or shall we let Lord Zeref continue to enslave us both? Hurry and make your choice before he returns."    The demon asks Rin, "so you will let me have the sword if I unchain you?"   Rin replies, "Yes, I will hand it to you...I being a human can not wield it."   The demon thinks that this sounds good, He will unchain the girl and obtain possession of the Tetsiagia, at that time he will also flee to some other land away from Zeref. Owning a powerful sword,maybe he can have his own empire somewhere. The demon removes the shackle from around Rin's neck and wrists, she is completely free from the chains.  He then responds, "Okay girl, hand me the sword now."  Rin Responds, "Certainly, as promised."    Rin holds the sword by it's dull blade and lets the handle face him so that he can take hold of it.  The moment the demon touches the handle, it shocks and burns the demon badly; he screams, "ah...you wench, you knew that would happen!!!"  The demon goes to attack Rin and she fights him with all of her demon slayer techniques. She sees Inuyasha running in her direction and she flings the sword in his direction..."Inuyasha!!!"  Inuyasha catches the Tetsiaga and helps Rin to destroy the demon.  Inuyasha  tells Rin to get on his back, "Jump on..we've gotta get you out of here before that damn lion comes back."  Rin climbs on Inuyashas back but is confused and asks, "Lion?  What do you mean?"  Inuyasha tells her, "His name is Zeref, He's a Loin Demon that's been after Sesshomaru's empire and power for a while now, Sango knows all about him."   Rin worried asks Inuyasha, "But What about Lord Sesshomaru, Where is he...Is he okay?"   Inuyasha informs Rin, "Don't worry, Sesshomaru can handle that creep."    Sango and Kohaku reach Rin and Inuyasha while riding on  Karira's back.  Sango replies, "Jump on Rin, we're getting out of here ,  Zeref has too many demons for us to handle them all."  Rin jumps on and she, Sango and Kohaku fly off headed back to the village while Inuyasha uses his Wind Scar technique to slay as many demons trying to catch up with them.  Rin looks back  at Sesshomaru from above and can see he is having an intense battle with Zeref, she doesn't want to leave him but knows it would be better for him if she is somewhere safe so he doesn't have to worry about her. Inuyasha comes along to check up on Sesshomaru;  Zeref comments, "Well now this doesn't seem like much of a fair fight, two  against one , can you not fight your own battles Sesshomaru?"  Sesshomaru instructs  Inuyasha, "Take care of Rin."   Inuyasha replies, "She's already safe, Let's destroy this bastard and get outta here!!"  When Inuyasha says that, it prompts Zeref to look in the direction of where Rin was chained up and is furious that she has been let free; because his head was turned Zeref was caught off gaurd when Sesshomaru replies to Inuyasha, "NO, I can handle him myself!!!"  as he strikes a swift mighty blow at Zeref. Sesshomaru's sharp and powerful sword buksaiga has cut Zeref across the chest and blood gushes out causing him much pain. Zeref says nothing as he transforms into a ball of fire and dissappears to take care of his serious wound. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru leave the area but back at Zeref's castles he stands before his servants from the top of the tower, scarred and bloody, he looks down over his many demons as he yells with  his strong, powerfully intimidating voice, "WHICH ONE OF YOU FOOLS FAILED TO GUARD THE GIRL!!!  HOW DID SHE ESCAPE!!
